Painful Intercourse Los Angeles, CA
Painful intercourse, or dyspareunia, is experienced by many women in some point in their lives. Mayo Clinic defines dyspareunia as “persistent or recurrent genital pain that occurs just before, during or after intercourse and that causes you personal distress.” Extreme cases of dyspareunia are actually due to vaginismus, which is when a female’s pelvic floor involuntarily contracts. An evaluation by our skilled staff however is necessary to determine whether or not this is the cause of painful intercourse.
There are many medical and psychological causes for dyspareunia. Here at our pain clinic we first perform a physical evaluation before moving onto a psychological analysis. Our goal is to make intercourse more comfortable for you.
